Introduction
The 5000 series of High Pressure Preformers have been developed to meet an increasing demand from the rubber industry for machines capable of processing tough or special materials at production rates that are not achievable with the standard range of Barwell Preformers.
This requirement has become more important where screening or filtering of materials is essential to reduce or eliminate contamination and remove impurities within the material.
Although screening or filtering of materials has always been possible with any Barwell machine, the effect of this was to reduce outputs to sometimes unacceptable levels. The 5000 series, with its increased compound extrusion pressure up to 350 Bar (5,000psi) overcomes this restriction and allows production demands to be met without compromise.
The capability of high pressure extrusion can be applied to both the standard manually operated Preformers and the latest HT range of Computerised Preformers.
In addition to increased pressure, the 5000 series machines can, as an option, be fitted with high capacity pumps to allow greater volume flow through the die and therefore even with softer materials the production capability from a single machine can be increased significantly.
Most other models are available at 350 bar (5000psi)
Higher Output
The chart above indicates the potential increases for various materials, although actual rates for a specific product would need to be clearly defined through material testing on our demonstration machine and subject to die size and whether screening is applied or not.
HT Range
The HT5000 versions incorporate the latest in Computerised control systems together with cutter speeds up to 800 rpm. Machine settings for each product are stored in the computer and may be recalled whenever the product is re-run. Both the ram and cutter speeds are directly controlled by the on board computer. This allows the machine to automatically maintain accurate blank weights, whatever the operating pressure or cutter speed.
Easy Cleaning
The area between the hydraulic cylinder and the extrusion cylinder has been increased; this allows the ram head to completely withdraw from the extrusion cylinder in the rear position and enables clear and easy access to the ram head for cleaning. This is especially important when changing from one material to another.
At the front of the machine, the head opening, closing and locking has been automated, with particular importance placed on safety interlocks, to ensure correct locking whilst the machine is under high pressure in production.
Although the standard features of the 5000 series will be sufficient for most applications, we also customise the machine to suit your particular requirement.
