CDK division have successfully produced a new range of Loader Metering Devices suitable for Fully Automatic Presses. The system, which is controlled via a PLC and Timer Access Unit, allows accurate and precise setting of the material weight. Adjustment of weight is purely by time thus eliminating mechanical setting. No movement takes place below the hopper therefore material wastage is eliminated.
A facility is available to meter individual impressions with varying weights. This also allows the customer to close off any cavity without stopping the press should he incur tool problems in any impression. A further option is the facility to preheat the material in the powder pots prior to discharge into the tool. This allows the material to flow more easily thus providing impression dissipation within the tool cavity and therefore reducing flash levels. This in turn allows a reduction in material shot weight and a saving on cure time. Customers using a three impression tool with two pots per impression have found substantial savings using the Metering Device with preheating.
